Totarol – Found Only In New Zealand

Monday, June 14th, 2021

One of the best things about being New Zealand-based is that we can access some of the best ingredients Mother Nature has to offer. Down here on the edge of the planet, we have natural formulas and ingredients that are native to our beautiful country that can nourish, protect, and heal your skin. Ingredients found nowhere else on earth. There is almost no better example of this than Veletta’s use of Totarol, a sustainably sourced and natural ingredient found only in the native New Zealand Totara tree.

Totarol is an antioxidant three times more potent than vitamin E. The benefits of Totarol include:

  • Helping eradicate Free Radicals
  • Fighting acne
  • Anti-inflammatory and great for sensitive skin
  • Hydrating and nourishing
  • Protecting Your skin.

Velettá cares a lot about Mother Nature and all she has to offer us. Taking a natural approach to your skincare is always better than putting harsh chemicals on your face, and Velettá is committed to continuing this tradition. This is why Velettá includes natural ingredients like Totarol in their skincare range so that you can reap the rewards and take care of your skin while you’re at it. For a youthful glow that is going to last the rest of the week, try Velettá’s Youthful Glow Intensive Hydrating Treatment, which of course, includes the ingredient of the hour, Totarol.

Silicone Send Back

Thursday, January 14th, 2021

Munch Founder and CEO Anna Bordignan recently joined an NZ project group to raise awareness of product stewardship. Product stewardship is about businesses taking responsibility for the products they make, sell and buy, so their products don’t just end up in landfill. That means designing and making products to last, then putting systems in place to enable them to be reused and recycled when they’re worn out.

SBN is leading the Aotearoa [New Zealand] Product Stewardship Campaign with a number of key businesses and aims to raise awareness and increase the number of businesses involved in product stewardship.

A group was formed to focus on silicone products in particular and Munch is the first New Zealand collection point for a new pilot programme to repurpose silicone: Silicone Send Back.

Anna says Munch chooses to use silicone rather than plastic as a good alternative because of its functional properties, these include thermal stability, durability, non-toxicity and elasticity.

“It’s a great alternative to plastic. But the end-of-life of silicone products in New Zealand needs further consideration. Currently in New Zealand there are no silicone recycling options. Even in the US, the recycling options are limited and are still in early stages.

“The exciting news is that a pilot silicone processing facility is being investigated, as part of The Aotearoa Product Stewardship Campaign led by the Sustainable Business Network.

“To avoid silicone products going into landfills right now, we can start to collect it and sort it,” she says.
